Public Works Projects Header
This past week, the contractor completed all utility work for the project. All homes have been disconnected from the temporary water system and reconnected to the city water supply. The next step involves digging up and replacing the existing roadbed (the rock, sand, and clay directly beneath the road) with new materials. This work is scheduled to begin next week, weather permitting. During this phase, they will also replace the drain tile and sump boxes.

The new sump boxes will be Tuf-Tite drain sumps with open grate lids. Their dimensions are 11 inches by 11 inches, with a depth of 15.5 inches. Each box will be placed near the right-of-way line in your yard, approximately 14 feet behind the concrete curb. There will be a 4-inch PVC pipe connecting the box to the 6-inch PVC drain tile pipe that runs parallel to the street just beneath the concrete curb. This 6-inch PVC pipe collects sump water from all residents, as well as groundwater near and beneath the roadway, and transports it to the nearest city storm drain.

Residents may notice a wooden stake in their yard labeled "Sump Box." This stake marks the location of the pro-posed new sump box. If you know where your existing sump connects to the city’s system and this does not correspond with the location of the new sump box, please contact the construction observer, Lucas Gross.
